Given the nature of West Dallasâ development, by the late 1920s the area was envisioned by the cityâs business elite as an industrial district with two small residential sections. To more easily convince the public, the Dallas Chamber commissioned an artistâs rendering that show- ed West Dallas covered with factories and smokestacks.
