Stalled by the Financial Crash of 1873, the T&P finally extended its service by 23.5 miles, reaching Fort Worth in 1876. The company also built a eight-track yard as well as various spur lines in West Dallas in the two de- cades following the flood. The location of the T&P and the availability of land in West Dallas brought in industry.
