Nichols speaks to Jacksonville Leadership Institute

Jacksonville, TX - Today, State Senator Robert Nichols (R) spoke to the Jacksonville Leadership Institute regarding the role of government in Texas.

"Leadership groups, such as this one, are important as they teach participants about their local and state governments and provides opportunities for them to make meaningful contributions to their community," said Nichols.

Senator Nichols discussed the makeup of the Texas Senate, provided an overview of the various committees on which he serves, the work that goes on in the interim, as well as the importance of public participation in the legislative process.

First elected to the Texas Senate in 2006, Robert Nichols represents 19 counties including the greater part of East Texas.

Nichols authored and passed legislation to protect landowners' rights, increase educational opportunities in East Texas and reform transportation policies. He has worked to reduce Medicaid fraud, and promote free-market principles. He was designated as a Champion for Children by the Equity Center and a Fighter of Free Enterprise by the Texas Association of Business.
