AUSTIN — Yesterday, Governor Greg Abbott signed Senate Bills 225, 320, and 925, marking the first round of bills authored by Senator Peter P. Flores to become Texas law.
Senate Bill 225 creates a new military license plate for veterans who have received the Army Occupation Medal while performing occupation service in Japan, Germany, Italy, and Austria in the aftermath of World War II. Senate Bill 320 establishes a hotel occupancy tax for the City of Pearsall to build, improve, and maintain facilities for attracting additional tourism to the area. Senate Bill 925 codifies current practice by the Texas Railroad Commission to determine eligibility of low-producing oil and gas wells. Senate Bills 225 and 925 are effective September 1, 2019; Senate Bill 320 is effective immediately.
"All of these bills were brought to me by a constituent or directly benefit Senate District 19," said Sen. Flores. "This is why I'm here: to represent and better the people of southwest Texas and it is an honor to do so in the Texas Senate. These three bills are the first victories of the 86th Texas Legislature for Senate District 19—but not the last."
