Like all railroads, the T&P was a company that rou- tinely polluted the environ- ment along 1,040 miles of its rail routes in Texas.
The most ubiquitous pol- lution included super heated gases and parti- culates such as carbon, carbon black, and un- combusted organics that were released by loco- motives, along with wa- ter vapor, into the atmos- phere.
