SENATOR HINOJOSA ANNOUNCES $267,455 IN JOB ACCESS AND REVERSE COMMUTE TRANSPORTATION FUNDING FOR THE COASTAL BEND CENTER FOR INDEPENDENT LIVING

AUSTIN — The Texas Transportation Commission, as part of their most recent May Commission hearing, unanimously approved an agenda item awarding federal grant funds from two Federal Transit Administration programs and state match to various entities and public transportation providers responding to a coordinated program request for proposal.

The Coastal Bend Center for Independent Living was awarded $267,455 in Job Access and Reverse Commute (JARC) funding.

These funds will expand a two year demonstration Mobility Options Project from two counties to all twelve counties in the Coastal Bend providing a voucher/cost-sharing model using Mobility Management. Partners in the project include Workforce Solutions of the Coastal Bend, the Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services, the Accessible Transportation Coalition Initiative of the Coastal Bend, and local transportation providers.

Senator Hinojosa, a member of the Senate Committee on Transportation and Homeland Security, issued the following statement in regards to the recent commission action.

"I support everything the state can do to make sure centers such as Coastal Bend Center for Independent Living get the funds they need to service the community. I look forward to seeing this project completed in all twelve Coastal Bend counties," said Senator Hinojosa.
